GOALS

Goal #1: The Preservation Breeding Project. We want to preserve the last & best individuals representing the remaining bloodlines of superior stock type Curly Horses. I plan to continue line breeding as much as possible with whatever few individuals of same bloodlines can be bred together. With those bred too closely, I will blend (outcross) the 2 separate bloodlines; the Warrior and the Fredell line horses. Both tactics combined together should ensure genetic strength, infuse hybrid vigor, retain excellent quality and continue to set true stockhorse type, with the ultimate goals of both bloodline preservation and breed genesis. We will cull harshly for quality & temperament. We are members of the ICHO Western Association, which will help us keep these efforts well-guided.

Goal #2: Proving with Performance & Inspections. We will occasionally sell horses produced from this program to approved homes that will be likely to use and help prove the ability of these horses in performance & open competition in various disciplines. We ourselves want to enter our trained breeding horses in open horse shows & performance events. We will also have some of our youth at risk show some of these horses in the future. We also want to get as many of the breeding horses inspected with NACHR & approved by ICAMS as possible, in order to get objective & outside professional input into our breeding program. This will assure we do not take any wrong directions with our limited genetic base. And, with proven quality & performance scores, any potential buyers of our horses can be assured of purchasing the kind of horse that will best fit their needs.

Goal #3: Frozen Semen. We want to collect & freeze semen on our premier stallions in 2007, to allow more people access to these great genetics, as well as protect our preservation project well into the future. If you would like to contribute AND benefit from this goal, please contact Tracy or I. We already have 2 interested breeders in the USA & another in Europe at this time, interested in pitching in. If we get a few more, we can make it happen. I would also like to collect and freeze semen annually on any of our stallion prospects we produce, in order to provide more genetic diversity, and to allow us to then geld them and enter them into open performance and in the Dominics Rider program.

Goal #4: Dominic's Riders geldings. Our stud colts that aren't stallion quality (and many that are) will be gelded and put into the Hippotherapy Rider program. Our smooth coats as well as any extremes can also go into the Rider program. The extremes work especially well for exceptional riders, with their very quiet & interesting temperaments. Arguably, it seems many extremes don't inherit the absolute highest quality conformation (for some unknown reason?) - but they are ideal made-to-order children's mounts. Their extra quiet temperaments are ready-made for special children's needs.

Goal #5: High Quality using CurlyXCrosses. Our stallions will occasionally be bred to exceptional, select AQHA, APHA & ApHC mares of the highest standards & qualifications: (extra-extra sweet temperament, excellent conformation, bone & feet, added size, cow sense, very smooth moving, lots of endurance and fancy colors) with the goal of producing really top quality western hypoallergenic ranch, riding & performance horses. Getting these kinds of colorful, athletic, sizey Curly Horses out in the public (they always have long manes, tails, and have hybrid vigor) and in the open stockhorse world will really put in a positive statement for the Curly Horse in general out west, as well as make an impressive representation of our Old West Curly Horses. These kinds of horses will be made available first for our older youth that need individual project horses, and next for sale to the public to help fund the breeding program. We will maintain waiting lists for those who are interested.
